Experience Newport, Oregon

The instruction, research, and internship opportunities available at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon make it an excellent place to pursue the study of coastal and ocean environments and  communities. The Marine Studies Initiative supports these learning experiences by supporting travel to the coast for classes, field trips, lectures, events, and other degree-related purposes.

Head to the Oregon Coast

MSI is offering to support the cost of transportation to and from the Hatfield campus on the Coast to Valley Express. The Coast to Valley Express shuttle travels from the central valley to Newport and back, 4 trips daily, with multiple pick-up locations including OSU's McNary Hall. *Tickets for summer courses at Hatfield campus are limited, please apply early*

Eligibility

Tickets are supported for qualifying purposes, including classes, field trips, tours, lectures, events, and other degree-supporting work at Hatfield Marine Science Center. 

The following people are all eligible to apply:

  • OSU students (undergraduate or graduate)
  • OSU faculty
  • OSU staff 

How to Apply

Email [email protected] using your Oregon State University email address and submit:

  • Your full name

  • Major/position title

  • Your status at OSU (i.e. undergraduate, graduate, faculty, staff, etc)

  • Your Unit/Program/Lab name

  • Purpose of the visit(s)

  • Date(s) of tickets needed

  • Number of one-way tickets requested 

*Note: You may apply for a maximum of 20 one-way tickets per term. Tickets are given out in two 10-ticket batches as supplies last.
