Ecosystem Oceanographer
Position Filled
Ecosystem Oceanographer is open at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank and will have an academic home in OSU’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. The primary research focus for this position is in understanding how interactions between physical, biological, and chemical processes shape the response of the coastal marine ecosystems, and adaptations of marine organisms, from planktonic to mid- and higher trophic level species (e.g., forage fish and apex predators). This position will focus on developing and implementing state-of-the-art biogeochemical modeling tools for investigating these questions. The research will generate new mechanistic insights for how ocean change – such as deoxygenation, acidification, and marine heat waves – affect the distribution, population dynamics, and adaptive capacity of commercially, culturally, and ecologically important species.
