In December 2017, the Marine Studies Initiative mourned the passing of Maryann Bozza. Maryann was a core member of the MSI Leadership team. She is greatly missed.

Maryann Bozza joined Oregon State University in 2010 in the position of Program Manager at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center. She received a M.S. in Marine Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2009, followed by a John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship in Silver Spring, MD representing Alaska Sea Grant, where she contributed to the development of NOAA’s agency-wide strategic plan. Her research career in human and wildlife immunology began in the biomedical field in New England followed by a decade at the Alaska SeaLife Center where her research focused on threatened pinniped and sea duck species.
Maryann Bozza also served a leadership role in the coastal community, as a Trustee with the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation, a Board Member with the Oregon Coast Community College Foundation, and on an Advisory Committee for the City of Newport.
